<span style="font-size: large;">A study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior confirms what you've been secretly hoping: It's not just you, all Millennials are having less sex. By comparing surveys, the study found that over double the number of Millennials born in the 1990s had no sexual partners since age 18 compared to Gen X'ers who were born in the 1960s. Today, the Washington Post corroborated these findings by interviewing a handful of Millennials who claim there's just no good reason to seek it out.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"> "For an average date, you're going to spend at least two hours, and in that two hours I won't be doing something I enjoy," said 18-year-old Noah Patterson, who'd rather be working or playing video games. "I enjoy [female] companionship, but it's not a significant part of life."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"> Work seemed to be a recurring key factor in Millennials' decisions to abstain. Whether it's for school or their careers, focusing on their work leaves little time for romance.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"> "I don't involve myself in the scene of frat parties and hookup culture ... but it seems like every other option is so time-consuming and very hard to seek out," said 19-year-old Alexandra Wolff. "It's not like I'm saving myself for anything; it's more like I've been busy."</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">These findings make sense, since just a few months ago the CDC released numbers showing that sex among high school-aged teens had declined over the past decade. There was no other explanation for this change, other than the fact that teens just ... aren't that interested in it any more.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Some believe this is because a lot of the taboo around sex has been broken down, but professionals also blame this change in hookup culture on the advance of technology. After all, it's probably no coincidence that the number of sexual partners fell for the generation who grew up with smartphones.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">"The nature of communication now is anti-sexual," said associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Norman Spack. "People are not spending enough time alone just together. There's another gorilla in the room: It's whatever is turned on electronically."</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">That being said, Millennials are still optimistic, confident that things will eventually work out.</span><br />

19-Year-Old Man Confessed to Killing 3 People Because He Didn't Want His Ex-Girlfriend to Move On

<span style="font-size: large;">After he saw his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Anna Bui, with another guy at a party in the Seattle suburb of Multikeo on Friday night, 19-year-old Allen Ivanov went back to his car, read the owner's manual for his recently purchased semi-automatic rifle, and went back to the party just after midnight, where he shot and killed Bui and two of her friends, and injured a fourth teenager, according to newly released court documents.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Ivanov was arrested early Saturday morning, more than 100 miles away from the Mukilteo house where the shooting took place. According to documents obtained by the Seattle Times, Ivanov confessed to the police and told them that he opened fire on the small house party because of his ex-girlfriend, Bui. "Ivanov stated that everything that went on tonight was about a girl," police wrote in the affidavit of probable cause.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> As Relevist points out, Ivanov's crime and the anecdotes and quotes from his probable cause affidavit are riddled with symbols of toxic masculinity, and the deadly symptoms of a culture that teaches men they can always have what they want (even other people) and that when they can't, anger and a need for power are the correct emotions to feel.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
The affidavit states that Ivanov apparently got jealous when he saw pictures of Bui with other guys on Snapchat. He said it was evidence that "she was getting on with her life without him," reads the affidavit, and said Bui was his "dream girl" and he "wanted to get back together." Police also wrote that Ivanov said he got mad when he heard from other people that Bui "was seeing other guys while the two of them were talking." He'd purchased the semi-automatic rifle used in the shooting, an AR-15, a week before the crime, allegedly for target practice. He was meant to start a fire arms safety course early this month, reports the Seattle Times. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">According to the affidavit, Ivanov viewed the semi-automatic rifle "as a symbol of power." Other details from the document say that Ivanov quietly returned to the house with the loaded rifle and hid outside near the living room windows, where a male partygoer saw him and said, "No, no, no," before Ivanov started shooting. The affidavit says that from there, Ivanov says his adrenaline kicked in and he went inside, shot Bui twice, and continued shooting until his magazine was empty. He was arrested an hour and a half later, more than 100 miles away from the scene.</span><br />

All four victims were graduates of a local high school, Kamiak High School, and both Bui and Ivanov were students at the University of Washington, according to CBS.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">CBS reported that Ivanov's defense attorney, Tim Leary, wondered why it's legal for a 19-year-old like Ivanov to purchase a lethal weapon like an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. "If he would have walked into a 7-Eleven and tried to buy a six-pack of beer, he would have been turned away," Leary said. "When you look at someone who's 19, what they can and can't do is very troubling, and the consequences of that could not be any greater for the victims, for my client and for the community at large."</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The very same type of gun used by Ivanov, the AR-15 semi-automatic, is regularly used in mass shootings around the country. Other shootings involving an AR-15 include the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, which left 20 first grade students dead, as well as the 2015 shooting in San Bernardino, California, which left 16 dead, including the two shooters.</span><br />
